Hemet man suspected of 2021 murder arrested in Mexico – Press Enterprise

A 27-year-old fugitive from Hemet wanted for allegedly fatally shooting a man in 2021 has been arrested by authorities in Tijuana, Mexico, officials said Wednesday.

The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on June 21, 2021, in the 40000 block of Marcela Lane. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Pedro Ramirez-Hernandez from Fresno, died several days later from his injuries, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The suspect, Angel Contreras, was located and arrested on Jan. 8 in Tijuana, Mexico, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Mexican Fugitive Task Force.

Details on the motive and relationship between Contreras and Ramirez-Hernandez were not released. Riverside County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson John Hall said that the two individuals were not related but knew each other.
