Following last week’s livestreamed hearing in the Ruby Franke child neglect case, Judge Suchada P. Bazzelle is considering closing the courtroom to the public for the best interest of the children, Paighten Harkins reports for The Salt Lake Tribune. She said that continuing with open hearings was contrary to the best interest of the children and their sensitive information, which had previously been published worldwide. A parenting Youtuber and influencer, Franke was charged with six counts of aggravated child abuse in August.
Franke’s eldest daughter, Shari, is 20 and would be restricted from the courtroom if the Judge went through with this decision. Shari Franke reportedly called police to report that she was concerned for her siblings, who were allegedly left home alone for days.
